Here are some of the latest works by Manchester-based artist, James Roper. His extreme and complex works use techniques of exaggeration and distortion to create a visual peak shift. Highly influenced by religious iconography from the Baroque period, he crafts these wonderfully bizarre and hyper-stylized images to let us take part of his heightened version of reality.
This ‘peak shift’ acts as a jolt to the senses, allowing us to recognize how intensely real and visceral our direct physical relationship with our world really is.
Check out more of Mr. Roper’s stunning artworks, including billowing cloud formations, voluminous folds in fabric and architectural structures; and peep an interview with the artist here.
